The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program at Stanford University cultivates a various, multidisciplinary community of emerging leaders from around the world and guides them to collaborate, innovate, and communicate as they prepare to deal with the complex challenges facing society. Through the King Global Leadership Program, scholars will broaden knowledge, develop skills, and strengthen character, as scholars will undergo community experiences, workshops, meetings with leaders, domestic and global study trips, and private development opportunities.
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars span all 7 schools at Stanford. Knight-Hennessy Scholars are talented individuals, and that they are made from a multidisciplinary community of students. The program offers a platform for purposeful leadership development and empowers you to effect large-scale positive impact within the world.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive funding for graduate study at Stanford University . The education of Knight-Hennessy Scholars is funded for up to three years for any graduate degree(s) at Stanford. If your course of study exceeds 3 years – like an MD or PhD program, or a Stanford dual- or joint-degree program – then your Stanford home department(s) will fund the rest of your education to the extent according to its standard funding commitment for that program. (That means, for instance, your program may fund you for 1 additional year for a few PhDs and three additional years for others).
During each of the primary 3 years of graduate study, Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive:
• a fellowship applied on to cover tuition and associated fees
• a stipend for living and academic expenses (such as room and board, books, academic supplies, instructional materials, local transportation, and reasonable personal expenses)
• a travel grant intended to hide an economy-class ticket for one annual trip to and from Stanford.
Knight-Hennessy Scholars also may access supplemental funds to support academic enrichment (e.g., conference travel). After enrolling at Stanford, you’ll wish to enroll in a further graduate program. during this case, you’ll apply to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program to receive additional funding up to a maximum of three years.
Additional Funding for Special Situations: If you engage in optional research projects during the summer, the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program may provide summer funding, through separate applications. additionally, Knight-Hennessy Scholars pursuing positive impact through social ventures could also be eligible to use for seed funding.
What is Not Covered
• The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program typically doesn’t cover costs that your home department at Stanford pays for its students – like for subscriptions or lab equipment.
• Fellowship stipends could also be considered taxable income. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program doesn’t reimburse students for taxes.
Eligibility:
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is meant to be hospitable to a broad set of qualified applicants. As such, there are not any restrictions supported citizenship, age, the field of study, career aspiration, etc. Applicants from all countries are eligible, and you’ll apply to any academic discipline in any of Stanford’s Graduate Schools. you’re eligible to use the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you’re applying to enroll during a full-time graduate program(s) at Stanford (for example, but not limited to, DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD) or if you propose on pursuing 1 of Stanford’s many joints- and dual- graduate degree options (for example, but not limited to, MD+PhD, JD+MA, MBA+MS).
Beyond eligibility for your graduate program, the eligibility factor is that the year you received your undergraduate degree. you’re eligible to use the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you received your first/bachelor’s degree in 2014 or later. That means:
• you want to have graduated in January 2014 through September 2021 to enroll at Stanford in Autumn 2021. If you graduated together with your first/bachelor’s degree quite 6 years before applying (in 2013 or earlier, for the Autumn 2021 intake), then you’re not eligible for consideration as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. this is applicable albeit you’ve got earned a further degree in 2014 or later. If you’ve got earned a graduate degree, you remain eligible to enroll in 2021 as long as you earned your first/bachelor’s degree in 2014 or later.
• U.S. military (active or veteran) applicants: You receive a 2-year extension of eligibility thanks to longer service commitments. you’re eligible if you earned your undergraduate (bachelor’s or first) degree in 2012 or later.
• If you’re still in college studying for your first/bachelor’s degree, you’re eligible to use it as long as you’ll complete your first/bachelor’s degree before you enroll as a grad student at Stanford. it’s advisable that applicants use the rules provided within the official website (link found below) to work out whether or not they are eligible to use the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program for Autumn 2021 enrolment.
Priority is given to applicants who will spend a minimum of 2 years at Stanford because the university doesn’t believe 1 year is sufficient to make the specified community and for scholars to profit from the leadership platform.
Undocumented students are eligible to use the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program but must meet eligibility for the graduate program, including any work requirements. If you enrolled during a graduate course of study at Stanford in 2020 or earlier, you’re ineligible for consideration as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar for your current course of study.
