The Soddy Postgraduate Award provides up to £6,000 to support a PhD student/group of PhD students completing fieldwork/research on ‘the study of the social, economic, and cultural lifetime of a region’ – anywhere within the world.

Applications are invited from postgraduate students. Projects could also be submitted from a private or alittle group working together.
This award is run by the RGS-IBG on behalf of the Trust. annually one award are going to be made from up to £6,000, though this sum could in certain circumstances be split between two applicants.
Eligibility
- The awards supportfieldwork/researchin the united kingdom or overseas.
- Applicants must be UK/EU nationals.
- Applicants must currently be registeredfor a PhD.
- Grants are available to individuals or small groups working together.
- Re-application for an equivalent project isn’t permitted.
- Awards can’t be made retrospectively.
- Project expenses covered by the award can include, but aren’t limited to, travel, subsistence, equipment and field assistants.
