Fully Funded Asthma UK PhD Scholarship at Swansea
Fully Funded Asthma UK PhD Scholarship at Swansea
The health benefits related to regular physical activity are well established. However, physical activity is probably going to be related to increased exposure to, and intake of, pollution , negating some or potentially all of those health benefits. Those with asthma are particularly susceptible to the consequences of pollution , with children most susceptible of all. Consequently, many children with asthma consciously avoid being active thanks to a fear of triggering an exacerbation. it’s therefore imperative that we identify strategies that allow children with asthma to securely engage in physical activity whilst minimising their exposure to pollution . to try to to this, we’d like to know pollution exposure patterns in children and their relationship with their health, also as working with children to co-design an intervention to make sure optimal behaviour change. This intervention is aimed toward promoting physical activity during a pollution-sensitive manner for those with asthma. If you’d wish to discuss this timely, interdisciplinary PhD opportunity funded by the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research, please get in-tuned with Dr Melitta McNarry.
