Brief description:
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is hospitable outstanding non-EEA/non-EFTA students enrolling during a full-time master’s degree programme at Leiden University.
Host Institution(s):
Leiden University within the Netherlands.
Level/Field of study:
All full-time Masters programmes at Leiden University with the exception of LLM (non-advanced) and MSc programmes at Leiden school of law.
Number of Awards:
The number and sort of award of the scholarship depend on the budget available for every Faculty department.

Non-EEA/non-EFTA nationals (see details below)
Scholarship value/duration:
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship programme has 3 awards:
• € 10.000 of the schooling fee
• € 15.000 of the schooling fee
• Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee
The LExS isn’t a full scholarship. Non-EEA LExS recipients must still submit ‘proof of sufficient funds for his or her student visa/residence permit application.
Eligibility:
Students must have achieved excellent study leads to their previous education, this being relevant to the Master’s programme that they’re applying. As a sign, the scholar is amongst the highest 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note: proof of ranking isn’t required – this information is only to point to the extent of competitiveness.
Applicants must have a non-non-EEA/non-EFTA passport and should not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans (Studiefinanciering) – with the exception of scholars applying for the LLM Advanced Studies programmes or the MSc in diplomacy and Diplomacy, that no nationality restrictions apply.

Upon successful application submission, you will receive an acknowledgement and electronic payment receipt. Keep it safe as a reference and wait for the outcome. Scholarship Council Canada team will take care of your further process upon qualifying.
