The scholar will join the colorful ALPHA experiment at CERN, so this position is full time at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. the main target of this project are going to be to use laser-cooled Beryllium ions to chill the positron plasma that’s used for antihydrogen formation. By cooling the positrons below that achievable by other means, the scholar will significantly increase the amount of antihydrogen atoms trapped within the experiment and thereby increase the resolution of the measurements.
Eligibility
- In addition to UK students, international and EU students are eligible to use for these studentships but should note that they’ll need to pay the difference between the house UKRI fee and therefore the institutional international student fee.
- Candidates must have a primary , Upper Second Class Honours or a Master’s degree with Merit, during a relevant discipline.
