Rhodes Global Scholarships
Rhodes Scholarship Fund
Masters/PhD Degree
Deadline: 31 July 2020 (annual)
Study in: UK
Course starts Oct 2021
Brief description:
Until recently, the Rhodes Scholarships have only been awarded in 20 constituencies (representing over 60 different countries). Now the Rhodes Scholarships are fully global: two new Global Scholarships allow eligible candidates from the remainder of the planet to use (subject to nomination). Rhodes Global Scholarship is trying to find outstanding young leaders who are motivated to interact with global challenges and to market international understanding and peace.
Host Institution(s):
Oxford University in UK
Level/Fields of study:
Any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford, with some exceptions.
Number of Scholarships:
2
Target group:
Students who aren’t from existing Rhodes constituencies
Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:
A Rhodes Scholarship covers: All University and College fees; the University application fee; a living stipend (£15,144 once a year 2018-19); one economy class airfare to Oxford at the beginning of the scholarship and one economy flight back to the student’s home country at the conclusion of the scholarship.
The tenure of the Scholarship is 2 years, subject always to satisfactory academic performance and private conduct. Subject to an application process, the Scholarship could also be extended for a 3rd year for those that take a recognized route to the DPhil (PhD).
Eligibility:
a. Nationality/citizenship: Eligibility to the other Rhodes Scholarship renders you ineligible to use for a worldwide Scholarship, i.e. if you’re eligible to use via any existing Rhodes Constituency, you want to apply there. Please also see the knowledge online regarding inter-jurisdictional consideration – it’s going to be in your interest to pursue that route instead of to use for a worldwide Scholarship, which can likely be the foremost competitive Scholarships offered by the Rhodes Trust.
b. Age: Upon 1 October 2020, you want to meet either of the below criteria:
i. you want to be a minimum of 18 and haven’t reached your 24th birthday (i.e. you want to are born after 1 October 1996 and on or before 1 October 2002).
OR (for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual)
ii. you want to haven’t reached your 27th birthday (i.e. are born after 1 October 1993) AND you’ve got met or will meet the wants for completion of your degree on or after 1 October 2019.
c. Academic achievement: you want to have completed (or will have completed by June / July 2021) an undergraduate degree with a primary Class or minimum GPA minimum of three .70 out of 4.0 (or equivalent). Please note carefully the wants for your chosen course at Oxford, which can be higher still. Successful candidates typically feature within the highest few ranks of their graduating classes.
d. English language: you want to have a sufficiently high standard of English to satisfy English language proficiency requirements (at the upper Level listed) of the University of Oxford.
