Structure of the Essay Competition

The Competition is divided into Junior and Senior groups.

♦ Junior writer group includes students of any course of secondary and higher school.

♦ Senior writer group includes students of Graduate and  Post Graduate students.

 

Basic Eligibility Criteria for All Groups:

♦ Participants must submit a copy of their student Identity-Card or ID copy, driving license copy, national identity card or passport copy along-with the essay.

♦ A written essay is the only literary form accepted (no poems, plays, songs, etc.

♦ Only one essay on the declared topic shall be submitted by each contestant.

♦ Use 12-point font (preferably Calibri (Body) if Ms. Word format is used

♦ If essay is in written form then a clear image or either scanned copy of the script shall be uploaded.

♦ Participants must mention his/her full name as per source document on essay and shall also write down the identification source document number.

♦ Selected participants will be required pass through an interview with the board panel in order to proof that essay content has been written by them.

Note: Participants not providing their identification will automatically disqualify from the competition.

 

Specific Criteria for Senior Group:

An essay of 750-800 words is required on the stated Competition topic .

 

Specific Criteria for Junior Group

An essay of 450-500 words is required on the stated Competition topic .

 

Judgment Criteria

♦ Creativity – Does the essay reflect a creative and original?

♦ Organization – Does the argument follow a logical and easily understood progression?

♦ Clarity – Does the author use concise language?

♦ Development of thought – Does the essay reflect a thorough comprehension?

♦ Grammar – Does the contestant use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation?

 

Judgment

Scholarship Council Canada is committed for the transparency it has created in developing one of the most respected international essay writing contests.  The essays will be judged by a committee of professional’s writers. Judges decision will be final. Essay submitted by participants will be the property of Scholarship Council. It could be published for any forum by Scholarship Council Canada (Participant’s name will be published as an author). Any essay copied from any source will be rejected. Only original content will be the part of contest. Essay will be accepted only by electronic form.
