Canada IDRC 2021 Gender in STEM Research Initiative for Developing Countries

Canada’s Global Development Research Centre (IDRC) is very happy to announce a capital that is not used to advance gender analysis and women’s leadership in technology, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields through the Gender in STEM Research Initiative.

Within the ten years, that is final pioneering work by a range of scholars and companies throughout the world has increased awareness of the importance of a far more comprehensive approach to science, in particular the one that integrates ladies as boffins and users of technology, and that recognizes gender analysis as built-in to high-quality research and innovation. Several initiatives are launched in response, and some advances have already been made. However, we continue to observe deficits which are twin women’s representation as leaders in technology — notably, in normal sciences, and engineering and maths — plus in the integration of gender analysis in these industries. This calls for a redoubling of efforts to deepen understanding about the gender that is twin in STEM and propose evidence-based strategies for just how advanced schooling and technology systems can react.

Aim and great things about Gender in STEM Research Initiative

CA$1 million to CA$1.25 million per research consortium; a total of CA$8 million can be acquired for this call.

Needs for Gender in STEM Research Initiative Qualification

Applications meet the criteria from consortia involving at the very least two general public universities located in at least two LMICs being eligible. Consortia may also include scientists based at other institutions in these and other countries, along with other stakeholders, as appropriate. In keeping with the main focus regarding the call, we anticipate ladies researchers to play a task that is leading the consortia as established and emerging scientists.
