The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides need-based grants to students who are ready to do academic work on the school level or are enrolled during a trade or technical program. The scholarship is out there to both graduate and undergraduate students who are actively working for peace and justice and getting to enroll in an accredited school. The fund looks at the applicant’s contribution to social justice, the power to perform academically, and therefore the relevance of the tutorial program, also as their financial need. Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides $10,000 per annum . Grants could also be utilized in the year they’re awarded. The Fund was founded in 1961 because the Marian Davis Scholarship Fund, a memorial to an educator and political activist who died of carcinoma in 1960.
Eligibility
- Applicant must move in movements for progressive social justice
- Applicant must be enrolled during a degree or certificate program at the post-secondary level
- Recent grantees are active within the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia and other sorts of oppression, building the movement for economic justice, and creating peace through international anti-imperialist solidarity.
- Applicant must have financial need
- These need-based scholarships are awarded to students who are ready to do academic work on the school or university level or are enrolled during a trade or technical program and who are active within the progressive movement.
- Applicants must have participated in activities within the US, and there’s a robust preference for applicants who plan on working during this country
