Brief description:

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is hospitable women and men from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master course of study during a development-related topic.

Host Institutions/Programs of study:

JJWBGSP offers scholarships for 30 Preferred Programs spanning a good array of development topics and for 10 Partner Programs at universities in U.S., Africa, and Japan in key areas of development, including policy management, tax program, and infrastructure management.

Target group:

Developing country nationals of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development Member Countries

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

A JJWBGSP scholarship provides tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, insurance, and allowance.

Please note all JJ/WBGSP scholarships cover the duration of the graduate program or two years, whichever is a smaller amount.

Eligibility:

The applicant must meet the subsequent eligibility criteria:

  • Be a national of an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development member country on this list;
  • Not be a dual citizen of any developed country.
  • On or after the date the decision for scholarship applications opens, not be an executive , his/her alternate, and/or staff of any sort of appointment (including temporary and consultant) of the planet Bank Group (The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Development Association, International Finance Corporation, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, and International Centre for Settlements of Investment Disputes); or not be an in-depth relative of the aforementioned by blood or adoption with the term “close relative” defined as Mother, Father, Sister, Half-sister, Brother, Half-brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university degree) earned a minimum of three years before the date of the appliance Deadline.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university degree) and purchased within the past 6 years from the date of the appliance Deadline.
  • On or before the Scholarship Application Deadline date, are admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the upcoming school year to a minimum of one among the JJ/WBGSP preferred university master’s programs listed on the JJ/WBGSP website and located outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship and country of residence.

Scholarship Council Canada has electronic application center, fill in the form and upload your documents. Upon successful application submission, you will receive an acknowledgment and electronic payment receipt. Keep it safe as a reference and wait for the outcome. Scholarship Council Canada team will take care of your further process upon qualifying.
