Brief description:
The University of Canterbury is inviting students who wish to undergo research on the environment and undertake Master’s or PhD studies at the University of Canterbury, to use for the Sir Neil Isaac Scholarship in ecology. The Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust set this scholarship in memory of Sir Neil Isaac, who had a lifelong enthusiasm for enhancing relationships between people and therefore the environment.
The recipient must lodge with the Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust a replica of any publication arising from the work undertaken during the tenure of the scholarship and must give due recognition to the donors in any such publication.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The scholarship award is $20,000 once a year, for a period of two to three years.
Recipients studying for a Master’s degree may hold the scholarship during both Part I and Part II of their degree programme. The scholarship is going to be available for the amount necessary for a student to finish 2.00 EFTS within the case of a Master’s student, or 3.00 EFTS within the case of a PhD student.
Eligibility:
The scholarship is tenable while the recipient is enrolled full-time during a programme for a Master’s or PhD degree at the University of Canterbury, working in ecology or environmental conservation under the supervision of a member of the University of Canterbury staff. Applicants must undertake research on the environment, which can involve the appliance of environmental sciences within the broadest sense to the study of environmental problems or environmental conservation.
In recommending the award, the Committee will consider general suitability of the candidate, including academic achievement; character; and skill to pursue research.
