Ulster University John J. Sweeney funding for US Students

The University of Ulster welcomes enthusiastic individuals to become part of the John J. Sweeney Program for the 2020 academic year. The purpose of the program is to support U.S. students pursuing a full-time master’s or master’s degree at the University of Ulster. It has four campuses and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Why at the University of Ulster? The University is preparing today’s students for the world of tomorrow. Here, students will have a wide range of job opportunities and gain the skills they need to forge a career. This special scholarship is named in honor of AFL-CIO President Emeritus John J. Sweeney, a son of Irish immigrants who dedicated his life to advancing the welfare of working people and made outstanding contributions to working people in the United States and internationally that will live on into the future.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Ulster

  • Be a member of the UAW; or
  • Have a family relationship (mother, father, sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent) with a USW member
  • Be able to provide a letter of recommendation from a union sponsor.

Benefits

Scholarships are awarded 70%-75%
