Brief Description:
The Outstanding Peacekeeper Scholarship supports staff deployed in a United Nations peace operation to build their capacity by studying towards a postgraduate degree. It enables recipients to better contribute to the effectiveness of the United Nations and to advance in their career. It is available for various online postgraduate study programmes which do not require travel outside of the mission area.

Target Group:
All staff deployed in a United Nations peace operation including UN Volunteers, national staff, police, military and civilian personnel, seconded staff, etc. It covers all fields from human rights to DDR, security and political affairs.
Scholarship Value:
50% of the full tuition fees for the programme – up to USD 5,700. Recipients may pay the remaining fees in up to three instalments.
Eligibility:
The scholarship is available on a competitive basis. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for the study programme and applications will be ranked according to the following criteria: proven ability to implement activities related to peace and conflict management, the relevance of degree for career advancement, citizenship of a developing country, low financial resources, no previous studies at the graduate level, years of relevant work experience, academic excellence. In case of equal qualifications, female applicants and applicants from Least Developed Countries will be considered preferably.
